The Survivors is the name given to the characters who manage to survive Ghostface's murders.
History[]
In 1996, after Sidney Prescott, with the help of Gale Weathers and warnings from Randy Meeks, manage to defeat the assassins and rescue Neil Prescott, becoming the first survivors shortly after it is revealed that Dewey Riley is alive.
In 1997, Sidney Prescott studies alongside fellow Woodsboro survivor, Randy Meeks, but Ghostface returns and two other Woodsboro survivors arrive: police officer Dewey Riley to offer Sidney protection and reporter Gale Weathers to cover the case. Despite being together, Ghostface attacks Randy and he is killed. Eventually, Sidney and Gale defeat the killers with the help of Cotton Weary and Dewey is revealed to still be alive.
In 2000, Cotton is killed by Ghostface as he wants Sidney's whereabouts. Detective Mark Kincaid contacts Gale Weathers to discuss the recent murders, which leads her to travel to Hollywood in Los Angeles, where she finds Dewey Riley working as a technical advisor on the set of Stab 3: Return to Woodsboro, the third film in the Stab series based on the Ghostface murders. Ghostface makes Sidney come out of hiding and takes her to Hollywood where they meet and eventually, Dewey manages to kill Ghostface, who was revealed to be the director of Stab 3, Roman Bridger, with a shot to the head.
Some time later, Sidney, Dewey, Gale, and "new member" Kincaid go to see a movie.
In 2011, Sidney returns to Woodsboro, but so does Ghostface, so Dewey, now the town sheriff, must stop him while Gale decides to investigate the murders against her husband's wishes. And Sidney protects her cousin, Jill Roberts. Finally, Gale discovers Jill and Dewey, Gale and Judy Hicks intervene and Sidney kills Jill by shooting her through the heart.
Dewey calls all police units, as outside reporters mistakenly name Jill the "sole surviving hero".
Years later (precisely in 2021), it is revealed to the public that Kirby Reed, an alleged victim of the 2011 Woodsboro massacre, managed to survive her injuries and became the sole teenage survivor.
In 2022[1], Ghostface returns to Woodsboro, but this time with a new focus: Samantha Carpenter and the friend group of her half-sister, Tara Carpenter. Sam visits Dewey Riley and asks for his help in stopping the killer, he contacting Gale and Sidney Prescott, warning them of Ghostface's return, while he murders Sheriff Judy Hicks at her home. There, Gale returns and meets with Dewey, but Dewey is killed shortly after helping Sam, he rescuing Tara and trying to kill Ghostface at the hospital.
Finally with the help of Sidney and Gale, "The Originals", Sam and Tara finish off the killers, Amber and Richie. It is revealed that the twins, Chad and Mindy Meeks-Martin, are alive.
In 2023, the survivors of the latest Ghostface murders, sisters, Samantha and Tara Carpenter and twins, Chad and Mindy Meeks, leave Woodsboro behind for New York City and must face a new Ghostface killer with the help of Gale and someone with a story in common, Kirby Reed.
Sam and Tara survive. Sam kills both Quinn and Wayne Bailey while Tara and Kirby kill Ethan.
Kirby is knocked out and once again stabbed by Ethan in the same spot that Charlie once stabbed her. Ethan actually survives when Tara stabs him in the mouth, where Kirby kills him with the television set that once killed Stu Macher.
Gale survives once again with a weak pulse. Mindy survives as she was taken to the hospital before the final. Chad was left for dead by the killer, but miraculously survives his multiple stab wounds again.
