Trivia[]
- The name of the club is a portmanteau of the words "dead" and breakfast and a homage to the 1985 American comedy film The Breakfast Club
- Furthermore, the club’s existence is a callback to both Noah and Audrey’s conversation at Noah’s job at the comic book store (parallel to Randy’s job at the video store in the original Scream; as well as Beth’s job at the tattoo shop in Season 3 where she would name them after school, just like Noah, albeit she was a killer and he wasn’t) in “Ghosts”, where they tried to identify why Branson would be killing them (debunked) as Noah states it’s because of archetypes and how in the 2015 Lakewood Murders, they followed as so (excluding Audrey, who would’ve been the parallel to Allison Reynolds):
- Nina Patterson to Claire Standish
- Tyler O’Neill to John Bender
- Riley Marra to Brian Johnson
- Will Belmont to Andrew Clark

- Besides there only being 3 survivors of the Deadfast Club, each share similar traits to those in the Lakewood Six, as well as them to characters of The Breakfast Club, such as:
- Marcus Elliot to Noah Foster and Gustavo Acosta (albeit he is the main lead, like Emma Duval was)
- Kym to both Brooke Maddox and Audrey Jensen
- Liv Reynolds to Emma Duval (albeit she was not the lead)
- Thus, the parallels also pair to the remaining members (excluding the victims and murderers in each) of both members of each individual club and also the 1985 film such as:
- Noah Foster to Brian Johnson
- Gustavo Acosta to John Bender and Andrew Clark
- Brooke Maddox to Claire Standish and John Bender
- Emma Duval to Claire Standish and Allison Reynolds
- Audrey Jensen to Allison Reynolds
- Just like Kieran Wilcox was to Beth, he originally was the parallel of John Bender (just like Beth to Allison Reynolds), before his reveal to be a killer, preceded after Piper died in her reveal to Emma (just like Jamal would to Marcus).
- Liv shares the last name of Allison from the movie comparing both characters mental well beings.
- Although in the film, there are five members (there are six members in the show), few of the characters have traits to the original members such as:
- Unlike most of the other groups in the franchise, the Deadfast Club wasn't established over friendship, but rather because all its members met each other at the same place and were chased by the same killer.
- Just like in the Scream film franchise, the Lakewood Five and Deadfast Club are seen as the true friendship groups, as victims or killers were either friends or associated with a target of each killer (just like characters near Sidney Prescott were).
- Contrary to the fact that Hawkins was inducted into the club (due to never having been a target, or in detention with the group; as well as never having been attacked or confronted by Ghostface on screen), he is officially the fourth survivor of Ghostface’s killing spree in Atlanta.
- This is similar to Frances from the fifth Scream (2022), seeing how she’s introduced as a character but never attacked or killed by the Ghostface in her film, respectively.
- Both characters are also LGBT and romantically involved with one of the main characters (also LGBT) and targets for their respective Ghostface, which include Manny (Hawkins) and Mindy (Frances), albeit the latter was more of a fling while the former were a secret couple.
- In the finale there are only 4 survivors (3 from the Deadfast Club), as a group it’s notably one less survivor to that of the Lakewood Five from both Seasons 1-2 of the TV series, respectively.
- This is also thus, a reference to fifth Scream, in where there are also 4 teen survivors of the Legacy Murders which include 3 main characters: Tara, Chad, and Mindy, with the fourth informal survivor being Mindy’s fling, Frances; similar to the official remaining survivors of Ghostface in Season 3, which also includes 3 main characters (Marcus, Kym, and Liv) and one minor (Hawkins).
- Much like the Lakewood Six, the Deadfast Club also included an equal male to female ratio of characters at the beginning of their groups, which was also 3 males to 3 females:
- However, after members of each group began being killed off (Jake, Manny, and Amir) due to one of the members being a killer (Kieran and Beth), the ratio for both groups became equally uneven.
- In each of the groups both have an adult mastermind killer (Piper and Jamal) working from the outside in, with a romantic partner (Kieran/Beth) from the inside helping to infiltrate and target the group. Also, the mastermind is also related being the half sibling to one of the main characters and gets to meet the characters from each of their respective groups they’re targeting (Piper to Emma, Jamal to Marcus).
- If not counting neither Hawkins in the third season or Gina McLane from Season 2, the survivors from each individual group both became odd numbers, respectively (5 survivors left from Lakewood with a ratio of 2:3 and 3 survivors from the Deadfast Club with a ratio of 1:2).
- Interestingly, in both remaining cases of original members and survivors left from both groups, there are more female survivors (Emma, Audrey, Brooke, Kym, and Liv) than male (Noah, Gustavo, and Marcus). This also includes Gina and Hawkins, if they were to be included into the groups.
- If either Hawkins or Gina were to be inducted into their respective groups, the ratio for both groups would automatically become even numbers (since both of the latter characters are survivors, despite never being killed by their respective killers; the ratio would be 4 survivors of 2:2 for the Deadfast Club, and 6 survivors, again, for the Lakewood Six, being 2:4)
- The group is officially disestablished with only 3 remaining members: Marcus, Kym, and Liv (with Amir and Manny being victims of Beth, the killer)
- Their trio is an homage to the original trio of Sidney Prescott, Gale Weathers, and Dewey Riley throughout the first four films of the franchise.
- More so an homage to the ending of Scream 3, due to the fact that Marcus and Liv are in a relationship in the end like that of Dewey-Gale’s relationship, while Sidney is single, just like Kym.
- Hawkins being the fourth survivor also is a reference to Mark Kincaid being the fourth survivor from Scream 3 (albeit Mark is attacked by Ghostface, unmasked).
- However, each of the 3 survivors homage with each character referencing the original characters in some ways (Marcus and Dewey being the only male survivors, Kym and Liv being the last duo female survivors like Gale and Sidney)
- Marcus, Kym, and Liv are officially the first trio of Black characters and survivors, the most thus far in the entire Scream franchise.
- Each of their survival and traits (and roles and to an extent, their gender) as survivors, is an inverse to that of the first trio of Black characters and main victims from Scream 2 such as: Phil Stevens, Maureen Evans, and Hallie McDaniel which all 3 latter characters survive and avenge by being survivors as well as their roles (Marcus and Phil being the only males, while Kym and Liv are the duo females, like Maureen and Hallie)
- Their trio is an homage to the original trio of Sidney Prescott, Gale Weathers, and Dewey Riley throughout the first four films of the franchise.
