Slitting is a common way that Ghostface kills people, usually involves using the knife to slit a victim, mainly either fatally by the throat or an arm, or Slashing by slitting viciously.

Slitting or slashing can be used to incapacitate and injure the victim being attacked before being killed another way if slit or slashed in the arm at first, or the main and only modus operandi if done at the throat, quickly and effective.

For the variety of various other Ghostface victims killed via this method and others, see Ghostface's Methods.

Trivia[]

  • Kenny Brown would be the first male victim in the Scream franchise to die via slit throat, and the first overall of this method.
    • Despite her death being ultimately due to being crushed by the garage door, Tatum Riley is technically the first female victim and only victim in the franchise to have her arm slit, not slashed like the others.
  • So far, 10 male victims have died to Ghostface via throat slitting or slashed (8 in film, 2 in TV) during each's Ghostface massacre, with no female kills via this method.
  • Both Marcus Elliot and Samantha Carpenter are the only survivors to have had their arms slashed twice by Ghostface.
  • Jill Roberts and Richie Kirsch are the only Ghostface killers, thus far, to have had their arms slashed as a ploy to seem like innocent victims.
  • So far, 5 female characters have been slashed by Ghostface, the majority having been on their arms, the most targeted via this way, due to only being attacked by Ghostface, of which to date only four of them have survived: Kym from Season 3, Tara Carpenter in Scream (2022), as well as both Mindy Meeks-Martin and Samantha Carpenter in Scream VI, the latter Tara's older half-sister.
    • Jill Roberts would technically not count, due to her later reveal as Ghostface #7.
    • For their individual attacks in reference, see Attacks/Appearances (the films including the Carpenter sisters of the Core Four and Mindy, and TV series including Kym) .
    • Tara is the only female victim to have had her stomach slashed instead of her arm, and the second of the franchise to have been slashed by their killer somewhere else.
      • First being Nina Patterson having her back slashed by Piper Shaw as the Lakewood Slasher from "Pilot" from Season 1 of the TV series.
      • Nina technically dies via throat slitting, and would be the first actual female victim of the franchise to be shown as being killed via this method (despite being preceded by Dara Alden from the 1994 murders as the first overall), but are unaccounted for, as they're not killed by Ghostface (See: Methods of the Lakewood Slasher).
