The relationship between Scream protagonist, Sidney Prescott and her abusive, psychopathic boyfriend, Billy Loomis occurs in the original Scream (1996 film). It is re-addressed in all sequels.
Billy and Sidney began dating in 1994 during their sophomore year at Woodsboro High. However, during their junior year, he uncovered that Maureen Prescott, his girlfriend's mother, was sleeping with his father. This caused his mother to abandon him, and spiral Billy into evil.
He sought inspiration from horror movies to create a real-life horror movie of his own, wearing a Halloween costume to commit murder. He blamed Sidney, believing she would turn out like her mother.
The nature of their relationship is tested throughout the first film, due to Sidney's fears of Billy Loomis' involvement in her mother's murder as well as her apprehension towards losing her virginity. It turns out to be true, finding out after losing her virginity, and his accomplice was their friend, Stu Macher.

Settling for a PG-13 relationship
After the gruesome murders of high school couple, Casey Becker and Steven Orth, Billy is seen coming through Sidney's window. They appear as a normal teenage couple romantically involved, but Sidney is still a virgin, while Billy pressures Sidney to have sex.
When Sidney is attacked at her house, Billy once again comes through her window to "comfort" her. A phone comes out of his pocket and she adds up to him being apart of the attack and runs to the front door where police have finally arrived. Billy is arrested and pleading Sidney to say something on his behalf. Billy looks at her with a painful look as he is being questioned by Sheriff Burke.
At school, Sidney bumps into him after he has been released from the precinct. They have an argument over their mothers, and he tries to say that he just wants her back. Both frustrated, they part ways. They don't see each other again until he shows up at Stu's house when some of their schoolmates are leaving the party.
Billy shouts as he comes to Stu's front door scaring both Stu and Sidney. Stu suggest they go up to his parents' room, and talk to each other. After she feels she falsely accused him in the struggle of her attack, she feels she has gained a sentimental trust with Billy and consents to have intercourse with him for the first time only later to find out he is the cause of her repressed ways. He turned out to be the killer of her mother.
After discovering Billy killed her mother, Sidney is resolved in her strong domineer towards him, despite their intimate momemt of him being her first time.
She defeats Billy by thrusting him with an umbrella, thrusting her finger in his wound to symbolize "Reverse Intercourse" and shoots him in the head to kill him.
Sequels
In Scream 2, Sidney fears Derek will turn out to be like Billy, but it turns out to be false. Her PTSD prevents her from saving his life to untie him, believing he was Mickey's accomplice. It was untrue, and she is regretful. She is almost murdered by Billy's mother, Nancy Loomis, who seeks vengeance against her, and Sidney blames her for abandoning him.
In Scream 3, she remembers his sweet words and false image as she visits the set of her old house, which she seemingly abandoned after the Woodsboro Murders ended. Although he turned out to be a psychopath, she had a certain connection with him, as it was her first intimate and emotional bond knowing the circumstances behind his rage.
In Scream 4, Sidney is reminded of Billy through Trevor Sheldon sneaking through Jill's window. She later expresses sadness for Trevor as a gun is pointed at him in the kitchen at Kirby's house, as he was a victim of Jill, a gender-inverse of the original Woodsboro Murders in the real-life remake.
In Scream (2022), Sidney, off-screen, learns that Billy was unfaithful towards her in high school. Because she is married and has children now, she is apathetic.
She is concerned for her own safety amid the news of Dewey's murder and upon learning his daughter, Samantha Carpenter is a target, offers advice. She believes she seems "really tough". Well aware first-hand that blood relation does not equal passed down ruthlessness, she is not suspicious of Samantha at all amid the new killings. Despite Samantha rejecting her help, Sidney puts a tracker on her car, and later warns Billy's daughter that she has returned to the house where Billy and Stu committed murder, 261 Turner Lane.
Trivia
- Billy was unfaithful to her with Christina Carpenter, and she became pregnant with his daughter, Samantha Carpenter. Sidney finds out about his child much later on and figures he wasn't "patient" with her after all and being unfaithful to her.
- It is revealed that Billy held hatred inside for Sidney, but stayed in the relationship to stay close to her to execute his plan of revenge for his mother abandoning him. Meanwhile, he cheated on Sidney with other girls at and around school.
- He is also seen flirting with other girls at the video store where Randy worked.
- Billy and Sidney dated at 15 years old since 1994-1995.
- He flirted more other girls before his death.
