Season One (2015)[]

The first season, set in September-October 2015, which introduced the town of Lakewood (fictional town implied to be set within a real U.S state, Louisiana; an homage to Woodsboro, California, in the Scream franchise; if proven true, would be the first project in the franchise to be set there), whom at it's center, was a reinitiated murder spree in it's wake of an almost two-decade murder spree back in Halloween 1994. The murders were speculated to have been committed by a deformed town outcast and then-teenager, Brandon James, who due to his facial deformity, had to use a mask growing up. The 1994 murders would be centered around Brandon's supposed crush with Daisy Anderson (aka Maggie Duval), whom he grew up and was his neighbor in his childhood, as well as attended the town's local high school with, George Washington, and whom would work just to see her in the town's Bowling Alley, despite personal contradictions by his family (excluding Brandon's father, or his older brother, Troy, whom, according to Noah's research in "Pilot", cared for him), mainly his mother, Cassie James, whom had begged her to let him get a job there, which she did.

During October of 1994, prior to the murders, a then 16-year old Daisy would, in her vulnerability due to problems in her relationship with Kevin Duval, would hook-up with Brandon. The hook up rumor would then eventually spread, which Kevin would overhear and who his friends, on Halloween night, 1994 would stomp and fight James after at a Halloween dance, when he tried to approach Daisy in the school hallways. This supposedly caused for James to "snap" and kill 5 students. Its stated that James attacked Kevin, but whom Kevin had survived. In the end of that night, the Lakewood Sheriff's Department would make Daisy set a rendezvous to capture Brandon, by having her lure him to the dock at Wren Lake, before shooting and, supposedly, ultimately taking him down, but which its revealed how a search party was held on November 5, 1994 in search of him but which came up inconclusive (more would be uncovered in Season 2). At this point, Daisy's family (and Brandon's) had a falling off as Daisy's father fought to keep her name out of the press, due to being a minor, which led for them to move Lakewood and, in which Maggie would learn she had become pregnant with Brandon's child. She would then give birth to their child, in July 1995, despite not knowing its gender even after giving birth and whom would give it up for adoption. Despite this, Kevin and Daisy would reconcile and would soon marry not long after graduating high school in 1997. The murders and James would then be adopted into his costume to be used 20 years later and would be engraved as the "Lakewood Slasher".

Two decades later, both Kevin and Daisy (now going by Maggie) had an only teenage daughter, Emma Duval (b. mid/late 1998), and whom unbeknownst to them or anybody in Lakewood, would be brought back and thwarted into the center for the town's second murders, as on Halloween 2014, on the 20th anniversary of the previous first murders it's revealed evidence from the town's municipal records office in relation to Brandon James, including his mask, were stolen and never reported. This would then lead a year later for Lakewood to be reinstated into the past in relation to both past and present problems plaguing the town, such as those tied to the Lakewood Mayor, Quinn Maddox, and his shady business/dealings, as well as more technological such as malware, hacking, spyware, etc. (all was used and traced to the George Washington High School's server, that of the English teacher homework website, taught by Seth Branson, whom unbeknownst to anyone besides Jake, until later, was in an inappropriate relationship with a then 16-year old Brooke; whom prior to his arrest during the events at the end of the season, whose real last name was Palmer, had actually moved to Lakewood from New Hampshire due to his affair and suspicion following the death of Olivia Finley, a college student and where he once taught at a liberal arts college, causing him to move and change his last name).

In the first season premise, it's stated as following: "After a cyber-bullying incident results in a brutal murder, the shocking violence stirs up memories of a killing spree from the past that has haunted some, intrigued others and maybe just inspired a new killer. A group of teens — with two old friends struggling to reconnect at its heart — become lovers, enemies, suspects, targets and victims of an assassin who’s out for blood."[1]. The cyberbullying incident would refer to Emma's former friend, Nina Patterson, who recorded and sent a video of Emma's former friend, Audrey Jensen, making out with a girl and outing her online. It's revealed how Emma was present during this alongside the mayor's daughter, Brooke Maddox, were present but weren't involved in its digital distribution, only being bystanders. Not long after posting the video, Nina, along with her ex-boyfriend, Tyler O'Neill (whose camera she had borrowed) would become the first victims of the second Lakewood Murders, with the cyberbullying video used as a point going forward, which all occurred on Monday, September 28th, 2015. This would be centered mainly around Emma and her friends, including her (former, ex) boyfriend Will Belmont, Jake Fitzgerald, and Riley Marra. In relation to this came Brooke's father, Quinn's, shady dealings, of which besides sending his wife and Brooke's mother to rehab due to her addiction. back in August (unknowingly), alongside a failed housing developments on Wren Lake, and whom had a home security video of which the day after sending his wife to rehab, had to move a body (revealed to be Monica's unidentified male friend, whom had OD'd in the Maddox guest house and died) in the trunk of his car in his garage, which was looked and blackmailed with by Nina and Tyler (before their deaths, due to Nina's personal laptop having had dirt on various individuals in Lakewood), and then by Jake and Will. As Emma became targeted, so did her former best friend Audrey and Audrey's sidekick, Noah Foster, as well as her mom, Maggie. The killer also uses the song of "Daisy Bell" (which plays throughout mainly the first season).

During this time in Lakewood, the town's new sheriff, Clark Hudson, and his estranged teenage son, Kieran Wilcox, from Atlanta arrived as the murders would then commence throughout all October of 2015. Amongst new characters and people introduced was podcaster, Piper Shaw, and State Detective, Lorraine Brock (whom would be taken off the case of the new 2015 murders following "Betrayed", whom had briefly replaced, whom prior to the season, was lovers with Clark). Despite Piper being an adult, she would become close and seemingly involved with Emma's close circle and their unwanted attention, such as seemingly being knocked out by the killer when Will was kidnapped and held at the Bowling Alley; as well as come into possession of the mayor's home security tape, which she gave to Hudson to arrest him (at Brooke's insistence). After Seth's arrest, Piper alongside Emma, would visit Cassie James, who was now living outside of Lakewood, who would go onto prejudice Emma, comparing her to Daisy, for the death of Brandon, as well as implicate Seth as the long-lost illegitimate child of Daisy and Brandon. These events all occurred just hours before the showdown of Halloween 2015. Following Emma's investigation with Audrey and Noah at the abandoned Lakewood General, encountering the staged killer's lair and evidence (the 1994 Lancers yearbook she was mailed by the killer and the discovery of Tyler's head, proving Emma's statement of him not being a suspect but rather a victim) , as well as the traumatizing deaths of both Riley and Will (prior to Will's death, would also get a clue in the Bowling Alley via the killer scratching a clue into Will's skin leading to a cassette tape of her dad Kevin, in the aftermath where he is interviewed by a doctor, revealing how Maggie slept with Brandon), she would then become hospitalized during which she would learn more of her family's secrets and backgrounds as well as briefly visited at night by her father, Kevin Duval, and tries to justify about learning of why her parents divorced (which she had briefly overheard at her mom's job at the morgue as the Coroner, following Kieran having shown her the 1994 James case files, and confronting her mother about it). Despite Nina's death being the only known first murder, as well as the implication of Tyler O'Neill of being a suspect before revealed to be a victim, Emma deals with family issues, which the killer in turn, taunts her off and traumatizes, such as the deaths of both Riley and Will, among others . This applies to Emma's friends and their secrets, which it extends off to. This also applies to Audrey's girlfriend Rachel Murray, whom would become the third victim, whom despite the memorials held for the Lakewood victims, she isn't shown (due to the outing video scandal, which she was the later identified girl of; who had attended St. Mary's, a Catholic school).

Emma and Kieran would have a brief falling out, due to a video of corroborating evidence that Audrey and Noah had found earlier via Rachel's SD cards and videotapes, of Nina and Kieran a day prior to Nina's murder on Sunday, September 27th, 2015, which Audrey had told Emma of. The latter events all took place prior to the showdown on the night of Saturday, October 31, 2015. Due to her father's arrest, Brooke temporarily moves into the Fitzgerald house, where she would find her webcam on her laptop recording her (callback to Nina), which Jake denied doing but later admitted; whom due to this, Brooke would decline to go to the Dance with and host her own pool afterparty at her house the same night, with alcohol. At the Dance, it's revealed that Noah is the DJ, as well as it being surrounded by most of the Lakewood P.D in efforts to be vigilant of suspicious activity due to the murders. The events of the final two episodes, are suggested to have taken place on the weekend of October 30-31, 2015. In spite, after learning of Brooke's upsetting at him (due to Jake making comment on Brooke's affair with Seth, which he was aware of) and her afterparty, he would hook up and bring along Ava Miller from the Dance, to crash Brooke's party and for her to be his eye candy and cause Brooke to be jealous, much to her lack of care and annoyance. Following her argument with Emma of Kieran at the dance, Audrey would go and crash Brooke's party and also be separated from Noah, leaving only Emma and Noah as the only teens on the outside in the know (as well as Kieran).

On Halloween night 2015, the Lakewood Slasher, would take the lives of three more victims, which in turn was caused due to the high police presence at the Dance (instead of the police jail station, where Seth was held) in where they would kill Deputy Clifton Roberts, to escape and let Seth out, to implicate him as a suspect of the murders. Prior to this, they would then disembowel and trap Sheriff Clark Hudson, after he was led into a trap due to trying to locate the killer from a cell tower signal and leading him to an unknown house just out yet near Lakewood. The killer would then broadcast Clark's trap on a live video feed to the residents of Lakewood, and hack the town's cell tower to cut off communication, mainly for Emma and her friends. Ultimately causing a public meltdown, this led for Emma to also then suspect Kieran after Piper arrived to the dance and claimed she visited Cassie again, and pointed out pictures and pointed out Seth as Kieran, as Kieran had just left moments prior. The live broadcast of the killer and the sheriff then interrupted and ended the dance. Piper was seemingly split from Emma during this time following having arrived to Clark's house to report on the murders with other journalists, in which Emma had sent Piper to Brooke's house after learning how she couldn't contact them on her phone, alongside Noah, as Jake, Brooke, and Audrey, and other partygoers were unaware of the events that were all simultaneously occurring.

Clark was then killed that night via a trap set off by Maggie, which disemboweled him, where he had been tied up to a tree at the old James' house near Maggie's childhood home as well (which Emma had visited with Kieran weeks prior, in her nightmare in "Betrayed": like Emma's trap with Will sitting on a chair somewhere on his farm and bisected by the trencher machine, his death occurring off-screen, in "In the Trenches", traumatizing her similarly to Riley's death via the ultimatum in "Wanna Play a Game?"). Lastly, after arriving back to the police station (Maggie had been chaperoning the dance, but was sent to work following the broadcast and the escape of Seth and death of his on-guard deputy at the jail, of which they first headed to), Emma is then separated from her mother, (whom would later be kidnapped and trapped), as she and Noah try to locate the killer (Noah hacking from his workplace at the Nightmare Level store, which he also used to find the malware on Nina's laptop, Seth's website, locating Will, etc.) but which the killer had become aware of and threatens Emma, stating they'll kill her friends and the other partygoers, prompting Emma and Noah to embark alone without cops, as they drive towards Brooke's house. Back at Brooke's house, Brooke becomes concerned as she texts Emma and getting no response, and who talks to Audrey as their friendship blooms, and who is annoyed by Jake's entrance and prompts Audrey to keep guard duty from the pool and from any people heading inside her house, which Audrey agrees to as Brooke heads into her wine cellar to get more wine, where she's confronted by Jake and who admits to her about the malware and his crush on her, infuriating her before they both depart as Jake then heads for a walk.

The third and final victim of the Lakewood Slasher in 2015 becomes Grayson Pfeiffer, whom had scared Brooke just moments prior with a fake Brandon James mask and who was lead out of the house and directed to the pool house by Audrey, much to his annoyance. He's killed off-screen by having his throat slit, whom is discovered by Ava Miller after she went looking for Jake following him leaving when Brooke headed into the wine cellar. She then is shocked when she stumbles to the bathroom pool house and discovers Grayson, causing her to scream and alert the other partygoers, which upon finding, causes another meltdown and for all of them to leave Brooke's house in fear of the killer. Audrey is confused by the sudden movement and leaving of the party, as Ava also left as Audrey then herself stumbles upon Grayson at the pool house before, as she's alone, is grabbed and pinned to the wall by the Lakewood Slasher, as Audrey asks them defiantly what they're waiting for, before the killer then knocks her out unconscious instead of killing her. At this time, Brooke emerges from the wine cellar with wine bottles to find her party ditched, much to her confusion, before she is then startled by noises from the outside, before she heads inside and is startled by Seth, who arrives and explains his escape by the killer and the chaos ensuing, which Brooke is unaware of and doesn't understand as Seth claims he doesn't either and pleads with her to let him in, which she denies. However, as Seth heads back and the lights of her patio go off, Brooke leans by the door to see before the lights turn off and she is startled by the Lakewood Slasher facing her, which prompts her to run back as she heads into her garage, and who finds hiding in her house's warehouse next to her garage and hides in the unplugged freezer right before the killer heads in as Brooke closes the freezer lid as silently as possible, and who turns on her phone flashlight before the killer then locks her in and plugs the freezer, much to Brooke's panic before the killer then flips the freezer, briefly knocking Brooke out before she screams as the killer tries to stab her from the outside, which they do, stabbing her on her sides as Brooke bleeds and freezes as she pants and tries to alert her friends, whom would later find her, just before she passed out.

After arriving to Brooke's house and seemingly finding Piper's car abandoned with a bloody handprint on her car, seemingly leading to both teens assuming that she was attacked. As they make their way to the house, armed with weapons, they're confronted by Kieran with a gun, who claims he had just arrived and saw the car, as Emma and Noah then press him about his shadiness and connection to his father, revealing the theory Piper laid out of being Brandon's son and the killer, which he denies and claims his father is and how due to everything he hasn't heard anything. This takes both Emma and Noah aback, as they reveal his death to him which seemingly takes him also back. The trio then head into the house and separate to find any of their friends (similar to when Emma and Noah teamed up and separated from Jake and Brooke in "In the Trenches", and how Kieran and Audrey were outside; inversed in this situation). Emma and Kieran find another bloody handprint by the window of the back of Brooke's house before being startled by Jake as he appears before then Jake, Emma, and Kieran locate Brooke, mainly Jake, who heard the noise as well as Emma, as Jake gives Brooke CPR before she pushes him back and awakens and tells them scared of the killer having been there. Noah goes alone outside and finds Grayson at the pool house via his blood trail before being startled and screaming after Audrey awakes and pats him. The teens all recollect outside, as Jake carries Brooke outside and all convene on what to do next. Emma heads inside and is called by the killer via Brooke's landline which she takes inside as the killer leads her to Wren Lake as she learns of her mom, Maggie, being trapped. Emma goes alone as per the killer's command, threatening to kill her friends. She agrees and does so, arming herself with a kitchen knife, where she'd then find her mother tied.

Ultimately, in the finale, both "The Dance" and "Revelations", the Lakewood Slasher walks to the pier and is revealed to be the Autopsy of a Crime podcaster, 20 year old Piper Shaw, whom is Emma's half sister and Maggie's illegitimate daughter conceived with Brandon. The showdown occurs on the now 21st anniversary of the original 1994 murders and which, Emma is lured by her mom, Maggie being tied up on a chair on the same pier she seemingly lured Brandon James to, which after unmasking herself and revealing herself, gets in a showdown with Emma before Emma, alongside with Audrey, shoot Piper down and kill her (Audrey had gotten the gun from Noah, after Kieran had then given it to him). Each are treated and found by the police and in the aftermath, Emma, Audrey, Noah, Brooke, Jake, and Kieran are inducted into the media per Noah's token coinage as the "Lakewood Six" (revealed in Season 2), as well as the reveal of Audrey's knowledge of the 1994 case files as well as letters written to Piper Shaw, as Noah narrates about the possibility of it not being over and of there having been an accomplice.

Season Two (2016)[]

The second season takes place 3 months after the finale of Season 1, during January-April 2016, which returns back to Lakewood and to the Lakewood Slasher, and follows the accomplice theory established as the cliffhanger from Season 1. This season is still a continuation of the second Lakewood Murders, which are still ongoing but in part, were put on hold due to Piper's death as well as Emma's absence following the events of Halloween 2015. In the aftermath, it follows Emma Duval and her friends, after her return and per the official synopsis for the second season is stated "Season 2 picks up with Emma's return to Lakewood after several months at a (psychological) retreat, where she tried to recover from the horrors of last season. Everyone is walking on eggshells around her, questioning whether she has truly gotten over the Killer's crimes. Meanwhile, Audrey is hiding her connection to the Killer, but is getting harassed by someone who knows the truth. Brooke and Jake are also keeping secrets—they are hiding a budding romance from Mayor Maddox. And, Noah is getting closer and closer to the truth about the season one murders. Lakewood's murderous past, both recent and distant, are once again brought to focus – with this Killer's psychotic mind-game intent on bringing Lakewood's heroes down in a storm of betrayal and bloodshed"[2].

The season deals with the aftermath of the reinstated Lakewood murders, as Emma and her friends, who per Noah's coinage, have been established as the "Lakewood Six" in the town of "Murderville" (nickname for Lakewood), are quickly plunged in and faced with yet another terrifying massacre soon to be embraced, and the horrific truth of Piper Shaw having had an accomplice; a theory which is panned out by Noah Foster at the center, whom after the events, deals with the trauma and by helping himself and his friends, makes the podcast in light of Piper's own, titled "The Morgue", of which he interviews the survivors of. In the aftermath of Kieran losing his father, it's shown how Lakewood's police has increased it's numbers of lost officers, including a new sheriff, Miguel Acosta (whom its revealed and learned was a former Lakewood resident, partially involved due to Emma's mom, Daisy aka Maggie Duval in the aftermath of the 1994 murders in disposing and moving the body of the town's urban legend, Brandon James) as well as male deputies Dwayne, Stevens, and female deputy Laverne Shell, all of whom would be brought back into action as the second part and volume of the briefly-reinstated murders would come back at full throttle for everyone in Lakewood and mainly the Lakewood Six, with more consequences and secrets since the first. This season also introduces the mysterious son of the new sheriff (parallel to Kieran's introduction in Season 1), Gustavo Acosta, as well as a new Psychology teacher, Kristen Lang, whom would find herself, partially consequently, in trouble and targeted (per her association with Piper, although she didn't know her, as well as her relationship with disgraced and former GWHS English teacher, Seth Branson, whom would then be attacked and targeted later on by the Lakewood Slasher). Since her mention by the late Riley Marra in "Pilot", the season also introduces Zoë Vaughn, who would eventually succeed Riley in becoming Noah's official (short-lived) love interest and girlfriend, who would become associated with the Lakewood Six, to much consequences.

The accomplice killer would then target and taunt Audrey Jensen, whom after the first season finale, is revealed later on in the second season, to have unknowingly at the time and consequently, a reason for Emma's late half-sister Piper to have been brought to the town of Lakewood, who is the first threatened throughout the majority of the season, mainly in the opening, which sees her being pranked by a new mean girl, Haley Meyers, which leads for a catalyst of events to open, following a night shift at the town's local movie theatre, the Zenith Theater. The events of the premiere episode "I Know What You Did Last Summer" took place from January 24-25th, 2016. At the same night of Audrey's scare is Emma's small welcome home party being held at Emma's (seemingly) boyfriend Kieran Wilcox's house, which sees Audrey and Noah unite alongside Brooke Maddox and Jake Fitzgerald, the latter duo who have formed a secret relationship following the events of the first season, much to the supposed knowledge of the Lakewood Six. However, Brooke hid her relationship as being Jake's girlfriend from the majority of the public and her father, Quinn, due to fear of retribution from knowing, much to Jake's annoyance and disregard. As the party concludes, the massacre which plagued the residents of Lakewood would slowly yet surely return at full speed. This happens following the breakup of Brooke and Jake's relationship after they had left Emma's welcome party and snuck into George Washington High School's swimming pool after hours the night to enjoy each other by skinny dipping (Jake does so, while Brooke maintains on her bikini). Brooke however, is disappointed at Jake's arrogance and for not being accountable for his shady doings with her father from Season 1, and whom still holds the weight of the aftermath on herself. Jake points out the irony, as well as her inappropriate relationship with Seth Branson. The two bicker on about their issues, before breaking up as Brooke gets a towel and leaves the pool as Jake calls her out, even as he pronounces his love to her, quietly. Before their breakup, Jake stated how his parents were in Mexico and who wanted to invite her to go with him, as well as make their love public by becoming her date to the Lady of the Lake pageant (which Nina was the queen of the 2015 one).

Afterwards, Jake finds himself going back to dig up shady stuff outside of Lakewood by the failed Wren Estate Developments of Brooke's dad, Quinn (callback to when he was digging up blackmail money in Season 1) that same night before he is then distracted by a toy pig, which was set by the killer, as Jake's foot falls into a bear trap, clenching and injuring him as he screams in pain before the Lakewood Slasher appears and knocks him out and also holds him hostage (like Will in the Bowling Alley) at an abandoned farmhouse (not to be confused by the James' farmhouse near Pikeview Road, aka Maggie and Brandon's home, or the one off Route 6 by the old horse stables; like the others mentioned, they also hold clues and victims). As Audrey leaves the party, she would soon be further taunted once Jake's disappearance was placed on high alert. The next day and the following ones transpires as Emma tries and returns to normalcy, following the Lakewood Six navigating the second half of their junior year. Noah begins pacing on his accomplice theory by having his own "Murder Board" in his bedroom on his investigation and evidence (photos of people, text messages, and his research on Brandon James' farmhouse), much to Audrey's wariness of being exposed. As school resumes, the new sheriff finds himself reliving his past as he connects with Maggie and tries to with his son, as Gustavo begins getting closer to Brooke.

Season Three (2019)[]

The third season, set 2 years after the Season 2 finale (and to the date of the Halloween specials), is the first season in the TV series to break off from the storyline of the Lakewood Five, as well as its town and the Lakewood Slasher, from the first two seasons, thus marking the TV series, since, as an anthology. It's the first season to reintroduce (respectively set apart from the entity of its film counterpart) in the TV series, Ghostface (since its absence due to the Lakewood Slasher in the first two seasons; as well as in the franchise since Scream 4) and also be set in a real-world location, in Atlanta, Georgia (it's official debut since it's mention back in Season 2), during October-November 2018. The premise and synopsis for the third season reads, "Set against the vibrant backdrop of Atlanta, Georgia, Scream features a brand-new cast of characters destined to fall prey to the mysterious killer known as "Ghostface". The series centers on Deion Elliot, a local star running back whose tragic past comes back to haunt him and threaten his hard-earned plans for his future...and the lives of his unlikely group of friends"[3].
