Lawrence Hecht (born 13 June 1960) is an American actor. He portrayed Neil Prescott in Scream (1996 film) and Scream 3 (2000 film). Lawrence also portrayed the narrator and the Ghost of Christmas Past in the 1981 television film, A Christmas Carol. He later appeared in the documentary Still Screaming: The Ultimate Scary Movie Retrospective in 2011.
According to producer Marianne Maddalena, he was a local hire in the first film. He flew in from San Fransisco to shoot Scream 3.

Lawrence Hecht portrayed Neil Prescott, the father of Sidney Prescott and the latter was portrayed by Neve Campbell, but in real life, Lawrence Hecht was only 13 years older than actress Neve Campbell.
