Jordan Peele (born February 21, 1979) is an American actor, comedian and filmmaker. He has worked in both the comedy and horror genres. He is mentioned in Scream 5 (2022 film). He is known for directing horror films, Us (2019) and Get Out (2017) which provide social commentaries.

In the Scream universe, Amber Freeman and Mindy Meeks-Martin discussed him as a reference to why elevated horror films are good, to which Mindy clarified that while Peele "ruled", elevated horror is not Stab, which is a meta-slasher whodunit franchise.

Scream universe[]

  • Obsessive fans of the first Stab film, Amber Freeman and Richie Kirsch, created their own massacre that was a legacy sequel, hoping for a re-do of a failed "elevated horror" reboot Stab 8, simply known as Stab, directed by Rian Johnson. Freeman was a fan of Peele.
  • In the TV series in Season 3, which sees the return of the Ghostface identity, revealed to be donned by sociopath and horror film fanatic Beth as well as Jamal Elliot; before their reveal, however, in the second episode “Devil’s Night”, during school and after having banded from the previous night, the Deadfast Club ask Beth for advice and how to survive and Kym (final girl) tells them by not listening to her and debates about what Beth had said earlier about Black people being killed off first in horror, after having almost been attacked by the killer the night before. She says she studied the horror movies Beth talked about, saying it’s largely white people “in white people places making dumb white people mistakes”, which Beth claims that’s exactly what horror is and Kym points out there’s Black people in horror movies, too. Beth asks her to name one movie besides Get Out, which Kym says she doesn’t have to because “we’re making our own rules just like Jordan Peele”. (This is the first unofficial reference of the director in the franchise, as this season takes place in 2018).

Trivia[]

  • In 2017, Peele was included on the annual Time 100 list of the most influential people in the world.
  • Directed the 2022 film Nope, of which starred Keke Palmer, who had portrayed Kym from Season 3.
