In the Scream film series' fictional universe, Hollywood Horror (published 2000) is the fourth and final known book of non-fiction by Gale Weathers, based on the life of Sidney Prescott and the Ghostface murders that surround it (the original book based solely on her mother's murder).

It appears in Scream 4 (2011 film) as an Easter egg prop at Gale's desk, and also on the book stall before she enters Sidney's book signing for Out of Darkness (2011 novel), and in the Ghostface Shrine in Scream VI (2023 film).

It was followed by Knife of Doom, a work of fiction.

Summary[]

It follows the events of the Hollywood Murders, a killing spree at Sunrise Studios committed in 2000 by Roman Bridger who attempted to create his own Stab 3 while targeting Sidney to appear on the Hollywood set in Los Angeles. This film was a planned work-of-fiction sequel to Stab 2, known as Stab 3: Return to Woodsboro.

It resulted in the death of Jennifer Jolie, a successful television actress who portrayed Gale herself in the first two Stab films. Her co-stars, Tori Spelling and David Schwimmer, had refused to return for the film, and were replaced by Angelina Tyler and Tom Prinze.

It was adapted into a Sunrise Studios produced film, released in the 2000s decade (unseen in the Scream universe), based on the events of Scream 3 (2000 film). It was the final book based on Sidney Prescott's real-life story.

It follows the first three non-fiction Sidney Prescott-related book, Wrongly Accused: The Murder of Maureen Prescott (1996), its best-selling successor, The Woodsboro Murders (1997), which was the basis for the slasher franchise, Stab, and College Terror (1998).
