George Washington High School is a fictional high school in the MTV adaptation of Scream.

History

George Washington High School is a public school located in the town of Lakewood. The school has been at the epicenter of three infamous murder sprees.

First Spree

The first of which occurred in October 1994 and was attributed to a deformed teenager named Brandon James. The 1994 victims were all sophomores as mentioned by Maggie who was 15 at the time of the murders, the latter year being the graduating year for 3 former high school seniors; two being Emma's parents Maggie and Kevin Duval; the third being Gustavo's father, Miguel Acosta.

Second spree

Nearly 21 years later, during the fall of 2015, during the months of September-October, the mysterious murders began being committed again, claiming the lives of several students. Some people theorized that Brandon James was back and killing once again. However, the killer behind the murders was later revealed to be Piper Shaw, his daughter. Her victims are three juniors- Nina, Riley, Grayson and two seniors- Tyler, Will.

Third spree

The Lakewood six are still Juniors in season 2 as it was around the winter semester of the school year (late January to late February). During this spree, four more juniors - Jake, Zoey, Haley and Eli and a former employee, Seth. It's known that the now Lakewood six (now five) graduated off screen as the Halloween Special revealed them to be Seniors and graduated off screen in 2017.

  • Will Belmont played for the the Lakewood Lancers, the school's athletic team, in which he was part of the basketball roster, and played at a game attended by Brooke and Emma in Hello, Emma, at the school's indoor gymnasium.
    • This is also where PE and mandatory defense classes where held for students, including where Will was pinned down and humiliated by Audrey Jensen due to the sex tape leak of him and Emma, in Exposed.
  • Jake and Will each had a woodshop class at the school, where Will goes to seek Jake after Nina's death in Pilot, ultimately leading to their fall out in Exposed, and who had a school fight in the school hallways in Betrayed, as well as leading to a solo yet non-violent encounter via threatening by Jake to Will after school in the school's male locker room and the weight room where Will was bench pressing, occurred hours before his kidnapping and then later death.
  • A Halloween dance party was held at the school in The Dance and Revelations.
  • Seth Branson was a former English teacher at the school. He was fired for sexual misconduct in Revelations
  • In I Know What You Did Last Summer, Jake and Brooke illegally accessed the pool on the school grounds after-school hours.
  • Kristen Lang is the current psychology teacher at the school. She made her debut in I Know What You Did Last Summer

  • In Dawn of the DeadMiguel Acosta ordered for the temporary lock-down of the school after the events of Happy Birthday to Me.
  • The school is shown to have a swimming pool in Season 2, supposedly for its swimming athletic team, shown first before Jake's death, in which he and Brooke snuck in to skinny dip in I Know What You Did Last Summer and later for Brooke to reminisce and breakdown underwater in the same pool in Happy Birthday to Me.
  • Emma and Audrey had a verbal fight causing Emma to push Audrey against a locker at the school in The Orphanage.
  • In The Vanishing, Emma and Audrey received a phone call from the killer.
  • In Halloween, it was shown that Emma and the remaining survivors of the Lakewood Murders were confronted by media reporters at the school premises.
  • As of 2019 (See Timeline), the former Lakewood Six (now Five) which includes Emma, Noah, Brooke, and Audrey (the original crew since the 2015 murders, when they were juniors), as well as Gustavo, have all now since supposedly graduated from the high school in 2017, off-screen, due to the fact that they were in their senior year stated by, as of Halloween II, which took place 2016.
    • This is based off the scrapped and cancelled/paused status for the storyline of Lakewood, and the cliffhanger for the Third Killer, due to the reboot of its third season (now Season 3). This means technically, it could be possible to be retconned, but for the sake of accuracy, its more factual/safe to assume the group have already graduated.
