- This article is about the fictional version of Christopher Speed depicted in the Scream universe, not the actor who portrays himself, who is twenty-three years younger.
Christopher Speed (credited as Movie Randy) is a minor character who appears in Scream (2022 film). He is a fictional version of the actor with the same name.
He was a cast member of the true-events based slasher, Stab (1997 film-within-a-film), released a year after the events of the original Woodsboro Murders.
Speed portrayed 1997 Windsor College Murders victim, Randy Meeks, a film geek that was a fan favorite. Randy previously complained a "Joe Blow Nobody" portrayed him (in the 1997 film, Scream 2), mistaking him for look-alike Joey Garfield.
The film also co-stars Tori Spelling (as famed, real-life heroine Sidney Prescott), the late Jennifer Jolie (as tabloid journalist Gale Weathers) and David Schwimmer (as the late Dewey Riley). His co-stars, Spelling and Jolie are seen in Scream 2 (1997 film) and Scream 3 (2000 film).
Biography[]
The Windsor College Murders (1997)[]
In Scream 2 (1997 film set in 1997), the first Stab film is released amidst the killing spree at Windsor College. Randy mentions a "Joe Blow Nobody" portrayed him in the newly released Stab (1998 film-within-a-film), after only appearing in two episodes of Dr. Quinn, comparing him unfavorably to Dewey Riley getting David Schwimmer to portray him.
In the scene, Randy is making a subtextual reference to actor Joey Garfield. However, due to the events of Scream (2022 film), it reveals Randy was either joking or mistaken due to the actors' resemblance.
The Woodsboro Legacy Murders (2022)[]

A photo of a young Christopher Speed is seen from Tara's Quick Search results.
The Scream universe reveals, however from Tara's Google/IMDb web search result listing that Christopher Speed portrayed the later murdered Randy Meeks, the famous horror film geek in the original Stab (1998; incorrectly stated as 1997) film, which later became an eight-part Stab franchise. This makes it likely he reprised his role as Randy in Stab 2 (1999 film-within-a-film).
The film was adapted from a Gale Weathers best-seller, The Woodsboro Murders (1997) from the "real life" original Woodsboro Murders that largely occurred in 1996.

Trivia[]
- He is credited as "Movie Randy".
- His casting was a creative pursuit for Radio Silence to re-investigate the original Stab film which had footage shown in Scream 2 and later Scream 4 in archive footage.
- While Joey Garfield was the subtle reference intended initially and hinted at in Scream 2, it is not a continuity error, as the actor is noted to be unknown, therefore easily mistaken to be someone else. Also, Speed resembles Garfield.
- In the Scream universe, this makes Speed a much older in the real world today, by approximately 23 years.
