Chloe is a fictional antagonist who appears in the Stab film franchise, set in the Scream film series universe. She is one of two main antagonists in the film-within-a-film, Stab 7 (2010 film) who makes a cameo in Scream 4 (2011 film). She is the overall 13th Ghostface in the Stab franchise.

Her accomplice is unseen, and revealed in the climax of the meta-slasher whodunit film, according to real-life Ghostface, Richie Kirsch's comments in Scream (2022 film). She is a Stab film series fanatic who murders her friend Rachel after her rant about her dislike for the endless Stab sequels and cliches of slasher films.

The Stab 7 scene was a parody of audience complaints against endless sequels and slasher films in general by Wes Craven. In the Scream-universe, it was also the same thing. The film frames the previous Stab films as films-within-a-film (Stab 7)-within-films (the Scream franchise).

Chloe is portrayed by Kristen Bell.

Biography[]

Scream 4 (2011 film)[]

Chloe is watching Stab 6 (2009 film-within-a-film) with her best friend, Rachel. Chloe is a big fan of the movies, unlike Rachel, who criticizes it. Chloe defends the movies, but Rachel doesn't care and keeps on blabbering about how stupid and fake they are. Chloe then pulls out a knife and stabs Rachel in the stomach, revealing herself to be one of the killers of Stab 7. "Why?" Rachel asks her best friend with blood pouring out of her mouth, "Because you talk too much!" Chloe tells her before stabbing Rachel again and telling her to "Shut the fuck up and watch the movie".

Rachel then falls over dead as Chloe begins to watch the rest of Stab 6. Chloe's fate is left ambiguous, but Richie reveals there are always two killers in the Stab movies, meaning Chloe has an accomplice.

Quotes[]

  • "I jumped. Scared me."
  • "I guess now it would be Twitter. That'd make more sense." (To Rachel)
  • "I like the Stab movies. They're scarier. It's not aliens or zombies or little Asian ghost girls. There's something real about a guy with a knife who just...snaps." (To Rachel)
  • "Did that surprise you?" (After stabbing Rachel)
  • "Because you talk too much. Now shut the **** up and watch the movie!"

Trivia[]

  • Chloe is fictional, both for real-life audience and for characters within the franchise, and therefore doesn't count as an official canon killer.
  • The original script for Scream 5 titled Scream Forever had one of the young teenagers show enthusiasm for the Stab sequels, particularly Kristen Bell as Ghostface.
  • She was 17 in an early script for Scream 4, and she and Rachel were written with socialite Paris Hilton and actress Lindsay Lohan in mind, tabloid targets of the 2000s decade.
  • Kristen Bell was 30 when the movie was filmed, so this would make her the oldest actress to play a teen onscreen in the Scream franchise, but not as an official Scream character since Chloe exists only in the Stab universe. However, Chloe and Rachel are likely in their 20s in the final film.
  • She has the lowest amount of screentime than any character in Scream 4.
  • She is the first blonde Ghostface (female) killer in the franchise, despite being a fictional character, and within the Stab franchise, supposedly.
    • She technically precedes Beth from Season 3 of the TV series as the first blonde Ghostface, who succeeds Chloe in actually becoming in reality (regardless of universe).
