The Brandon James Mask was (supposedly) worn by Brandon James during the original Lakewood Murders (1994), as well as by Piper Shaw and Kieran Wilcox during the Second Lakewood Murders (2015-2016) as the Lakewood Slasher. It was a post-operation surgical mask designed and created by doctors in order to keep Brandon's face in place and protect his skin from infections. The mask is made out of hard plastic and has 5 tan elastic straps attached to it.
The mask was designed specifically for the first two seasons of the television series, Scream, by Eddie Yang, and his artistic team.

Replica[]
The Brandon James mask has been made into a Halloween costume in Season 2 and 2 versions of the mock-mask have been seen so far. The design and shape of the mask is similar to the actual Brandon James Post-op mask, although, the paint job makes the costume plastic based than the Brandon James original mask which resembles a fiberglass look.
Behind the Scenes[]
The mask is described by producers as a "darker, more organic mask" compared to its predecessor that evokes Jason Voorhees' hockey mask, Michael Myers' mask, and the original mask worn in the films. In the latest season, fans noticed the difference of the mask shape and the appearance, it was quite indifferent to the one Piper and Kieran wore in Season 1.
Trivia[]
- 120 replicas of the mask were handed out to attendees of the Scream panel at San Diego Comic Con 2015.
- Costumes featuring the mask and raincoat were made available starting September 29, 2015.
- The mask was originally planned to be made of human flesh.
- The second out of three masks in the franchise, and the first of the TV series to be different, succeeded only by the Shallow Grove Slasher mask in the Season 2 "Halloween" specials.
- The Mask was used in Scream VI for the first time in the films, since Season 2 aired almost 7 years ago, due to the storyline of the Lakewood Slasher being rebooted for Ghostface's return (albeit separate from film entity, unstated) in Scream: Resurrection (aka Season 3) in 2019.
- The directors themselves and the script mention the Scream: TV Series (unstated if its killer or events were adapted in-universe into a Stab TV show), with the mask being used on the subway scene, making this the first time something from the first two seasons of the TV series is referenced in the movies (due to it also not being shown or mentioned in the Ghostface-centric storyline of Season 3).
- However, as of now, no known footage or photos of the Brandon James Mask in that scene exist.[1]
