"Blindspots" is the fifth episode of the third season of the television series, Scream. It premiered on VH1 on July 10, 2019.

Plot

As suspicions sharpen and loyalties fray, the Deadfast Club desperately searches for the man behind Ghostface's mask...only to be disturbed by what they find. Ghostface's deadly game draws to an end!

Summary

Liv visits her father in the hospital, who is alive, but unstable. Deion is held until the next morning by the police who releases him for lack of evidence, and later is picked up by Jamal.

During the ride, Deion discovers that DJ Mr. Fade (Shane's former alter-ego) will throw a party that night, and on suspicion of being Ghostface, asks Jamal to let him work at this party, where Jamal reluctantly accepts. Despite their differences, Kym and Beth team up to gather evidence that Liv is Ghostface, but both have separate and enlightening conversations with the girl, who reveals having the private telephone to communicate with her mother, and that she feels guilty for the divorce of her parents.

Deion finds the Ghostface mask in Jamal's trunk, and when confronted, he says it's only for use at the party. After Kym tries unsuccessfully to get information from Jamal during the party, he talks privately with Deion and tells him that he himself is Mr. Fade, and at the same time that Deion reveals the existence of the serial killer, Jamal acts in a strange way and insinuates that he's Ghostface, saying he'll go after Reynolds and Liv that night. Deion rushes to the hospital where Ghostface has arrived first, killed a police officer, and is now trying to turn off Reynolds' life support machines, but Deion saves him, and shares with Kym his discovery about Jamal. Soon, Kym and Beth tell the police about Jamal, who at the place of the now empty party, is attacked and seriously injured by Ghostface, who accuses him of having "taken a forbidden advantage."

Notes

  • B. Westbrook's death is an homage to both Officer Perkins from Scream 4 and Phil Stevens from Scream 2, each considering the fact that both get stabbed in by the head (as well as marking them as guest stars and the only three black people in the franchise whose characters are killed off in this fashion).
